Alternative health and nutrition is one of the fastest growing methods of preserving health today. Perhaps the most interesting part of all of this is that much of today's alternative health practices are actually very old practices used by traditional healers; wise men and women who perfected methodologies and knowledge often separate from conventional medical practices.
This is not to say that alternative health care practitioners are "better" than conventional medical practitioners, or that one should seek out alternative health care to the exclusion of conventional means. In fact, most ethical alternative health care providers insist that clients seek out the best methods and information for their particular situation, and often work in strict conjunctino with conventional practitioners.
So what does this have to do with Kestra? Kestra is a Master Herbalist who is studying for her Doctor of Natural Medicine degree. Her Master Herbalist certificate was earned after 500 hours of work through the Global College of Natural Medicine, and consisted of classes on Anatomy, Toxicity, Terminology, History, Eastern Medicine, Identification and Harvesting, Making Herbal Remedies, Interactions, Nutrition, and Jurisprudence. These classes were followed by clinical experience, formulation of remedies that were scrutinized by professors, and a thesis. Kestra is also a Reiki Master, a Holistic Healer, and a bunch of other titles that are only of any meaning within specific contexts.
Does this mean that you should take the advice of Kestra or any other Master Herbalist or Healer without doing your own research? Of course not. Please take any information you receive from this website or from any other sources, and closely examine it. It is essential that you take responsibility for your own health care, and use both alternative and conventional practitioners as partners and not as dictators.
Please also be very careful when looking at alternative medical practitioners. There are a lot of quacks out there. There are a lot of really silly practices and snake oil salespeople just like in days of old. Don't expect that the FDA will protect you from this, or the FTC, or your State's Board of Medical Regulation. There are too many for any of them to keep up with. And the Internet has just made it worse. So please, do yourself a favor and get multiple opinions from conventional and alternative practitioners before you put anything into your body, or have any invasive treatments, including those that invade your wallet.
As time goes on, there will be more inforamtion provided about different herbs, and on other natural health topics. Just give me time :-)
